VON VULVI UND KORPI

Painting, 2012

At first sight, the paintings of Dorothée Zombronner appear like enlarged organic forms seen trough a microscope. Similar to a Rorschach-test, these forms remind of skin, hair, organs and female genitals because of their structure. At the same time, they can't be clearly distinguished by the observer. The series plays with the viewers' cognition and questions traditional conceptions of aesthetics, beauty and sex.
While viewing and discussing the works, a lot more of the viewers' mind and psyche will be revealed than of the paintings themselves. The pictures invite the viewer to question and reflect his/her own stereotypes.
This work raises questions about alleged generalities like common concepts of beauty or sex and opens a view for new perspectives.
